About this app

Supervision of POM in order to protect the public is set out in a full spectrum surveillance system starting from pre-market to post-market control. One form of post-market surveillance conducted by the POM includes Monitoring the Side Effects of Traditional Medicines (OT) and Health Supplements (SK) as part of Pharmacovigilance in the OT and SK fields.
Monitoring of OT and SK side effects is carried out by compiling reports on OT and SK side effects from various sources (business actors, health workers and the community), which are then managed to become OT and SK side effect reports. The side effect report will then be discussed and evaluated to be used as a material for consideration in the making of OT and SK product surveillance policies
OT and SK are commodities that are easily obtained, widely used and generally used in the long term by the community. Therefore, monitoring the side effects of these commodities is very necessary, so that people will avoid potential products. However, information about side effects / undesirable effects of the use of OT and SK products reported to the POM is still minimal. The lack of reports of side effects received can be caused by several factors, including public understanding of the importance of reporting low side effects, as well as the OT and SK side effects reporting system that is inadequate to provide easy access for reporters.
POM has an electronic OT and SK side effects reporting system through the web-based OT and SK Side Effects Reporting. However, along with technological developments, it is necessary to develop applications to follow the latest technology in order to expand the reach of users and increase the ease of reporting OT and SK side effects through the creation of e-Monitoring applications for side effects of traditional medicines and health supplements (e-MESOT) based on Android which has advantages in terms of practicality, flexibility of application features and popularity in Indonesian society. These advantages can be utilized to accelerate access to reporting and follow-up on the side effects of OT and SK in order to strengthen public protection.
With this mobile application, it is easier for business people, health workers and the public to report side effects of OT and SK. In reporting side effects, users can report side effects for themselves or others. Matters that need to be reported include:
a. user identity
b. product and usage information
c. description of side effects
d. Product photos and laboratory data (if any).
