Sahih AL-Bukhari is an Islamic book of Hadith compiled by Imam Bukhari (full name Abu Abdullah Muhammad bin Ismail bin Ibrahim bin AL-Mughira al-Ja’fai) was born in 194 A.H. and died in 256 A.H. Bukhari lived a couple of centuries after the Prophet’s (P.B.U.H) death and worked extremely hard to scrape up Islamic Hadees.

The total chapters of the book are 99 and total available Hadith are 7558. Chapter 1 is about revelation; there are 7 hadith in this chapter. There are 4 chapters regarding cleanliness 2 chapters regarding prayer and 2 regarding Adhan. In chapter 11 Imam Bukhari has discussed the Al-jumuah Friday related Hadees. In chapter 12, 13 and 14 issues regarding prayers are discussed. Chapter 24 and chapter 25 inform us about the Hadith regarding Zakat and Hajj. In chapter 30 Imam Bukhari has discussed the As-Saum The Fasting related Hadees. Chapter 41 tells us importance of Agriculture and cultivation. In chapter 56 Imam Bukhari has discussed the Jihad Fighting for Allah’s Cause related Hadees, there are 309 hadith regarding jihad in this chapter. Divorced issue has been discussed in chapter 68. Last chapter of this book is regarding Islamic Monotheism Hadees. There are 193 Hadith in the last chapter.

Each report in his collection was checked for compatibility with the Qur’an, and the veracity of the chain of reporters had to be painstakingly established. His collection of Hadith is considered second to none and recognized by the overwhelming majority of the Muslim world to be the most veritable collection of reports of the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H).

He spent sixteen years of his life compiling this Hadith book, and amassed 2,602 Hadith (9,082 with repetition). His standard for acceptance into the collection was among the most stringent of all the scholars of Hadith.

Sahih Bukhari is further divided into nine volumes. Each volume has several books. Each book contains many Hadees. The Hadees are numbered consecutively per volume. The books serve to group Hadees together, but the volumes impose the numbering.

The Book was originally compiled in Arabic. As Arabic is the language of only Arab countries so for the better understanding of this book, it has been translated into Bangla, English, Hindi, Tamil and other major languages. The Urdu Sharah of this book has been published in Pakistan.
