Mish - Carpooling

Mish is Aotearoa New Zealand’s latest community-based travel network enabling Kiwis nationwide to share rides across our beautiful country. Mish leverages technology to fill empty seats on the road, connecting members looking to carpool, and making travel more affordable, sociable and convenient. Mish's environmentally and human-friendly mobility network will reduce CO2 emissions and enables countless human connections every year.
When co-founders, Matt and Amelia Taylor, were travelling Europe from 2016-2020 they noticed how this form of travel was so common. When thinking about back home, it became clear that this could be a real opportunity in New Zealand. With the sheer number of people driving alone, lack of public transport, rapidly increasing fuel and vehicle fuel running costs. It hit them that all those empty seats in existing cars could be the beginning of a new travel network. Over the next couple of years (while locked down due to COVID-19), the husband-and-wife duo took this simple idea, built the app and launched in June 2023.
