Bible Holy Scripture (BHRisl)
This is the 11th Bible edition in Icelandic and was published in 2007. It is a new translation, the sixth since the beginning. The original languages ​​were translated, but during review the translation committees of the Old and New Testaments - who ultimately decided what the text should be - relied on older Icelandic versions, as well as new translations from Denmark, Norway and Sweden, and then German, British and American Bibles. The translation includes the Apocryphal books.

The Audiobook of the Bible was published in 2024. Readers are Þóra Karítas Árnadóttir, Guðrún Ásmundsdóttir, Arnar Jónsson, Guðjón Davíð Karlsson, Kristján Franklín Magnús, Steinunn Jóhannesdóttir, Álfrún Helga Örnólfsdóttir, Eggert Kaaber and Ragnheiður Steindórsdóttir.

The Bible 1981 (BI81
The 1981 Bible is basically a 20th century Bible (from 1912) except that the Gospels were translated anew from Greek.

The Icelandic Bible Society
The Icelandic Bible Society (HÍB) was founded on July 10, 1815 and is the oldest working society in Iceland. Its aim is to work on the publication, distribution and use of the Bible. HÍB is an organization of people from all denominations and Christian denominations. Anyone can become a member. The association participates in the work of the United Bible Societies (UBS) on the international stage. The participation consists, among other things, in preparing collections for the translation and distribution of the Bible in poorer parts of the world.
