About this game

Presented by Cracking The Cryptic, the most popular Sudoku channel, comes a new game based on our most requested variant: Killer Sudoku.

In Killer Sudoku, every puzzle features cages that tell you the sum of the numbers inside. This extra information leads to beautiful logic that you will master as you progress through our handmade puzzles. The puzzles in Killer Sudoku are created by Simon and Mark as well as a large number of guest creators. Fans of Cracking the Cryptic's channel will recognize many of these authors as some of the most talented creators working today!

As with our other games (‘Classic Sudoku’, ‘Sandwich Sudoku’, ‘Chess Sudoku’, 'Thermo Sudoku' and 'Miracle Sudoku'), Simon Anthony and Mark Goodliffe (the hosts of Cracking The Cryptic) have written all the hints for the puzzles. So you know that every puzzle has been play-tested by a human being to ensure that each sudoku is interesting and fun to solve.

In Cracking The Cryptic’s games, players start with zero stars and earn stars by solving puzzles. The more puzzles you solve, the more stars you earn and the more puzzles you get to play. Only the most dedicated (and cleverest) sudoku players will finish all the puzzles. Of course the difficulty is carefully calibrated to ensure lots of puzzles at every level (from easy through to extreme). Anyone familiar with their channel will know that Simon and Mark take pride in teaching viewers to be better solvers and, in these games, they always craft the puzzles with the mindset of trying to help solvers improve their skills.

Mark and Simon have both represented the UK many times at the World Sudoku Championship and you can find more of their puzzles (and lots of others) on the internet’s biggest sudoku channel Cracking The Cryptic.

Features:
100 beautiful puzzles

Great selection of puzzles, good UI, good configuration options. Overall very fun! I'm taking away one star because the pre-written hints are frequently wrong and/or confusing. Hint #1 of Puzzle #22 "45s" is a great example: the third part (about where 8 goes in r1) directly conflicts with the previous part of the hint, and the final part is downright impossible. Of course, this isn't a problem if you never need hints, but some of us do!

Even the supposedly easiest puzzles are way harder than the easiest puzzles in the other CTC apps and in this app the hints are even worse than in the other apps. If you get stuck, forget looking at the hints to help you out. Half the time they mention a wrong row or column number and most of the time there are steps in the logic that aren't easy to see that are completely skipped in the hints. All of the other apps are nice but I can't recommend this one for anyone who's new to killer sudoku.

I put 4 stars instead of 5 for one reason only: battery draining. I have bought all the apps and the sudokus are awesome. I spend a lot of idle time on them and they are totally worth it. Unfortunately, all the apps drain the battery a lot, so it is very inconvenient when you don't have a charger/power bank. There might be some looping or something running constantly in the background. I suggest to find a battery optimization strategy. A sudoku app should not drain that much battery :)
