Not entirely accurate. I used the map with sun overlay, to line up the perfect sunrise photo, with a distant lighthouse, the sun came up out the sea, and I had to walk south a few minutes to get the shot I had planned. The times were accurate, but not the direction. Editor response- Nothing to do with my compass because I wasn't using it, I'm using the lines drawn on the map in 2D mode.

Sorry you have had problems with the app. It might be that the compass sensor on your device needs calibrating. You can find instructions on this in the app. If you have any further questions on this you can contact us at
[email protected]. Thanks.

I am a location photographer. when I scout a location to shoot a sunrise or a sunset I will whip out my Sun Position app and see what will be highlighted by the sun. Like rocks, flowers. water and reflections, and grass and trees. This app helps me see the photograph before I download it to my computer. I scout locations of where to set my tripod to capture many different angles and areas. I could not do without this incredible app. I have proudly owned this app for possibly 10 years.

Fairly accurate. If you live in Northern regions it seems the sun position on the app is 20 minutes behind the actual position on the sun. That slight error won't affect your filming.
