The Brother Print Service Plugin enables you to print directly from your Android devices (Android 5.0 or later), to your Brother printer through a Wi-Fi network. As this is a plugin application, you can print using the "Print" option of supported Android apps. Please see below for supported applications (as of March 2015):
- Chrome Browser
- Gmail
- Photos
- Google Sheets
- Google Slides
- Google Docs
- Google Drive
The following print options are available (compatible options will depend on the selected device):
- Copies
- Paper Size
- Color/Mono
- Orientation
- Media Type
- Quality
- Layout
- 2-sided
- Borderless
After installing this application, you must activate it in one of the following ways:
- Tap the icon displayed in the notification area immediately after installation, and enable it in the displayed screen.
- Tap "Settings" on your Android device and tap "Printing", then select "Brother Print Service Plugin". Enable it in the displayed screen.

Was working now completely refusing to talk to printer it knows is there. Brother online support absolutely useless, you need to be a tech genius to figure it out. Tremendously difficult to set up the first time, worked fine for months, even yesterday. Printer is effectively useless since we use it for phones and tablets. Edit; brother need to actually read the comments. I've already contact support, the issue is clearly your app!

Don't know why but my phone always shows the printer grayed out & unavailable. I have the exact same printer in 2 homes, in different states. Having the same issue with both tells me it's the app or printer. This has been an issue for a few months. Sometimes it'll not be grayed out & will work. Most of the time it won't. Never used to have this problem. Was tired of issues with hp printers so I got the Brother printer & it was so easy. Not anymore. Now it's nothing but problems.

You need to set up iPrint & Scan app for full functionality. Even then, to change IP address for printer you need to attempt to print something eg a Yahoo mail using its Print option and then use dropdown menu from the top of the printer plugin app to choose the correct Printer, whereas trying this directly from the plugin (without trying to first print something and failing to find the printer) is impossible. Brother haven't fixed this pkugin for years. It works though.
