This is the best vocabulary app for french learning and I've tried many others. There are ads if you don't buy the full version, but the ads are bearable and only come between sets of words instead of interrupting you in the middle. I have one suggestion though for improvement which might work: You could include prepositions with the verbs so that they would be learned at the same time. Thank you for a great app!

I just started using this app, and I'm extremely happy with how it's set up. It seems to be created for exactly what I want, which is learning French vocabulary. I almost immediately purchased the premium subscription to support the app as well.

I stumbled upon tobo while looking for a simple but entertaining app to boost my vocab, and I like it. If you want to start from scratch, this app may not be for you, though. Positive aspects include: - simple flashcard style vocab introduction (partly with small illustrations) - automatic audio play - quizzing with not just the stereotypical multiple choice but also type in questions (you can type nouns with or without articles) - favourite terms can be quizzed separately - 4 types of rather self explanatory games that add a little fun to the learning process Negative aspects include: - an awful lot of ads in the free version - cannot be used across devices (unless paid for?) - a couple mistakes or misleading translations - inconsistent article usage (e.g. "le pôle Nord" but "pôle Sud"; Why?) - it has only 3500 terms (some more useful than others) The limitation of only 3500 terms bothers me most. I want to study even more words while using the same features I have come to like so much. Note for beginners: This app does NOT feature the most basic vocabulary, hence you should learn those prior to using the app. The substantial lack of example sentences (in the free version) makes contextual application rather difficult and may therefore not be very beginner friendly. Conclusion: A lovely app with good potential, but it is almost spoiled by the flood of ads and the very small amount of vocab it provides. It could be awesome if they would greatly extend the number of vocab terms and/or allowed custom built decks with imported materials.
