Water is vital. It is even said to be the source of life. So, to guarantee its protection and facilitate access to this capital resource, the Beninese State adopted Law No. 2010-44 on water management in the Republic of Benin.
In 94 articles, this law defines the legal framework within which water must be used and protected. It guarantees the right of access to water for all and defines the sanctions applicable in the event of water-related offenses.
Law 2010-44 responds to the needs of objective No. 6 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which aims for clean and accessible water for all is an essential element of the world in which we want to live. There is enough water on the planet to make this dream come true.
