Rapportera Fästing is a tool that makes it possible for the public to help collect information about tick species, their distribution in the country and what pathogens they can carry. Citizen science contributes to robust and sustainable monitoring of ticks and tick-borne diseases. By using the app, you will directly get to know what kind of tick species/genus you have found! Results of analyses (including TBE-virus) will be published on SVA:s website
How to report
1. Take a photo of your tick finding.
2. Open “Rapportera Fästing”. Select the image that most closely resembles the tick you found. There are several pages with different images of ticks.
3. Fill in the information about the finding and upload the photo you took of the tick.
4. At the bottom of the page, fill in your email address and indicate if you would like to send your tick to SVA.
5. An instruction will be sent directly to your email address with all the information you need to pack and send the tick to SVA.
The tool Rapportera Fästing is developed within the EU project IDAlert and used in Sweden, where the work is led by SVA. Several new discoveries have been made since 2018 when SVA started
working with citizen science on ticks and tick-borne diseases. The success is driven by public engagement and interest.
Thank you for contributing to research within ticks and tick-borne diseases!
