James L'Etoile is an author with a master's degree in criminal justice, specializing in gritty crime fiction. He has twenty-nine years of experience in the criminal justice system working as an associate warden, chief of institution operations, hostage negotiator, and director of parole. He is the author of the Detective Penley Mystery series which includes At What Cost and Bury the Past. His other work includes the novel, Little River.
