Mr. Putter and Tabby love the snow, especially when they watch it fall from inside their warm house. But one day Mr. Putter wants to read the funnies so much that he goes outside in the snow without a hat on to get the newspaper, and catches a bad cold.
Tabby tries to make him get well, but Mr. Putter is still miserable. He remembers when he was younger his mother would make him tea and soup and they’d read adventure stories. He says to Tabby, “Colds aren’t so much fun when you’re old.” But Mr. Putter’s neighbor Mrs. Teaberry and her dog, Zeke, have a plan to make Mr. Putter feel better, and that plan just might include an adventure story.
