Wonderful content as ever - this is the brilliant Ruth Goodman absolutely in her element. The text is 5-star. But this audiobook reading is flat and robotic, with no enthusiasm or feel for the material and with misplaced emphasis and pauses ten times a page. I don't understand why a publisher would consent to material being published in this way, or even how audiobook readings turn out this bad. I listened to it through anyway. Weirdly it's quite good for sleeping to.
