Ernst Moritz Arndt (* 26. Dezember 1769 in Groß Schoritz; † 29. Januar 1860 in Bonn) war ein deutscher nationalistischer und demokratischer Schriftsteller, Historiker und Abgeordneter der Frankfurter Nationalversammlung. Als Publizist und Dichter widmete er sich hauptsächlich der Mobilisierung gegen die Herrschaft Napoleon Bonapartes in Deutschland. Daher wird er auch als Freiheitskämpfer bezeichnet. Er gilt als bedeutender Lyriker der Epoche der Befreiungskriege. Inwieweit seine Äußerungen zum Judentum als antisemitisch zu bewerten sind, ist umstritten. (Wikipedia)
