Gerard Reeskamp, een drogist uit het Gooi, gaat direct na de Duitse inval vol overtuiging in het verzet. De SD arresteert hem in Arnhem, maar hij ontsnapt en duikt onder. De Duitsers zetten een prijs op zijn hoofd van 10.000 gulden. Reeskamp neemt vervolgens actief deel aan het gewapende verzet in Friesland, hij doet mee aan overvallen op distributiekantoren en het politiebureau van Sneek en hij heeft een belangrijke taak bij de befaamde overval op de strafgevangenis van Leeuwarden.
