Adam Shoalts is a modern Canadian historian and explorer. This book is about his investigation of the Traverspine 'gorilla'. This mysterious creature scared the people of Traverspine, an outpost of three houses near the Mealy Mountains in Labrador, for two years before they abandoned it. Shoalts and his friend Zach canoe to Traverspine, then into the Mealy Mountains, to investigate the one-hundred plus year old mystery. This is an entertaining adventure written about by a man who loves adventure, mystery and the great Canadian outdoors like few other modern writers.

ADAM SHOALTS is a historian, archaeologist, geographer, and Westaway Explorer-in-Residence at the Royal Canadian Geographical Society. Shoalts holds a PhD from McMaster University where his research examined the influence Indigenous oral traditions had on fur traders in the subarctic and Pacific Northwest. He is also the author of the national bestsellers Alone Against the North, A History of Canada in Ten Maps, Beyond the Trees, The Whisper on the Night Wind, and Where the Falcon Flies.
