About this ebook

A peace initiative promoted by international conspirators intends to launch a U. S. Senator into the White House. The conspirators intend to corner the market for rare earth minerals, and take advantage of a brilliant university professor with dreams of parlaying the Arab Spring into a Middle East region of democracy, peace, human rights, and prosperity. After witnessing his lover's drowning at sea, Rob Taylor swears revenge on the rare earth conspirators responsible. His quest sees him become apprentice to the conspiracy's leader and draws him into a sexual relationship with the man's daughter. While the apprentice pursues the conspiracy, the professor and his Senator-mentor seek a peace conference to establish a Middle East Union. The apprentice's cover is blown; the professor learns that the Senator has ulterior motives; the conference in Paris convenes; the Police Nationale are tipped to a plot to disrupt deliberations by destroying the Eiffel Tower; and post conference hits are ordered on the professor and apprentice. How will it all end?

About the author

Alan L Moss is a unique and emerging voice in the thriller genre. His writing draws upon Ph. D. research capabilities and many years in Washington D.C. as a federal Chief Economist, Congressional Fellow in the U.S. Senate, and Adjunct Instructor at the University of Virginia's Northern Virginia Center. In 2002, he put his government career aside and moved to the Jersey Shore to pursue his writing. His published novels spin sophisticated tales of conspiracy, love, sex, and subterfuge. After years of politics and bureaucracy, Alan has found the freedom of writing fiction an intoxicating and satisfying calling. Two distinguishing features of Alan’s novels are involvement with significant national and international issues and remarkable settings. His new novel, Insidious Deception (Whiskey Creek Press March 2013), deals with the market for rare earth minerals (substances required by the technologies of the future) and Middle East conflict and resolution during the Arab Spring. Locations include Jerash, Jordan; Hvar, Croatia; the Negev Dessert and Mossad Headquarters, Israel; Pescara, Italy; Washington, D.C.; New York City, NY; Palm Beach, FL; Mountain Pass, CA; Toulouse and Paris, France; Socotra, Yemen; Andorra la Vella, Andorra; and La Samanna, St. Maarten. In Island of Betrayal (Gauthier Publications 2010), Alan’s debut novel, the action revolves around a dispute over poverty level minimum wages and an experimental stem cell cure for diabetes being sold on the black market. That story takes place in Honolulu, HI; Pago Pago, American Samoa; Auckland, Ashburton, Christchurch, and Greymouth, New Zealand; Boston, MA; Ellicott City, MD; Tucson, AZ; Beach Haven, Manahawkin, and Atlantic City, NJ; Washington, D.C.; Nedonna Beach, OR; and Garden Route, South Africa. Alan’s non-fiction offerings include Selling Out America’s Democracy (Praeger 2008) and Employment Opportunity (Prentice-Hall 2000).
