About the author
University Professor at GWU and director of its Institute for Communitarian Policy Studies, and former chair of the department of sociology at Columbia University and adviser to the White House in the 1970s, Dr. Etzioni is the author of 32 books. He is a frequent contributor to magazines, academic journals, radio and TV. He is a leading figure in the movement of responsive communitarianism.
