Weihnachtsoratorium is een geestige novelle over het huwelijk en over de liefde van een vrouw voor haar man. Helle is sopraan in een koor en het aangrijpende Weihnachtsoratorium van Bach staat op het programma. Tijdens het kerstconcert zingt Helle met alle liefde die ze in zich heeft, als eerbetoon aan Bach, maar vooral voor haar echtgenoot Frank, die in het publiek zit. Als Frank voortijdig de concertzaal verlaat, is Helle diep beledigd. Tijdens de kerstdagen komt het huwelijk zwaar onder druk te staan, maar door creatief ingrijpen weet Helle de situatie een onverwachte draai te geven.
