About this ebook

WHERE THE HEART IS...

Daisy Daring dreams of what she cannot have—a career as an architect like her famous father, yet society will never tolerate a woman architect. When her father falls ill, Daisy takes up his work herself in order to provide for her family. Soon, she isn’t just finishing his old floor plans and designs but creating brand new ones herself—all done secretly under her father’s name. The ruse works well. No one suspects…until Hugh Whitby walks into her life.

Hugh Whitby isn’t taken seriously by society, his family…well, by anyone. He’s too loud and boisterous, too colorful, too impetuous, too…Whitby. So when he decides to build a new home for orphans, he seizes on this chance to prove himself by hiring the best architect he can. However, it’s not Elias Daring who greets him but his lovely daughter Daisy. For Whitby, it’s love at first sight, but for Daisy, the attention that Whitby draws is dangerous. If anyone discovers her secret, it would end her father’s career and her dream right along with it. No, best to stay away from him—in public, because she can’t help falling for his charms when they’re alone.

When an unintended act of betrayal threatens all she holds dear, can they overcome the obstacles between them and learn that home really is where the heart is?

4.5 Stars!! Loved it!! Hugh Whitby is such a positive and happy person! I’d love to be like that. He was the BFF of Miranda, the main character, from book 1 in ‘Capturing the Carlisle’s’ series. I never got to read that book but I still love Hugh, he is a flamboyant, happy and positive person. Daisy Daring is a hard worker, trying to keep her family afloat by taking over her fathers architecture projects but has to keep silent on the fact, because she’s a woman. I know!! Makes no sense, but that’s the way it was back then. It must’ve been terrible being a woman back in the 1800’s. I would’ve hated it! Daisy and Hugh are pretty different and this book is a great example of why you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. *I am voluntarily leaving a review for an ARC that was provided to me by the author!*

This is an absolutely charming story about Hugh Whitby, patron of Gateway School, and Daisy Daring. Daisy is very talented and wants to be accepted as an architect. Hugh hires her (actually he thinks he is hiring her father) to build his home and school. She has her chance, and Hugh falls in love at first sight. He decides he is going to marry her. Can he convince Daisy? I absolutely love Hugh. He is boisterous, loud, and dresses in wildly colorful clothes. He is kind, generous, and caring. His explanation for his personality and odd choice of colorful wardrobe is touching, one of my favorite parts of the story. Daisy helps her sick father with his business, but gets very little credit for her part. She is sweet, smart and talented. I enjoyed and recommend this delightful quick read. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

I loved Hugh and Daisy's story. I fell in love with Hugh when he appeared in the book, If The Duke Demands and I am beyond thrilled that he got a chance at his own HEA because he truly deserved it. Hugh is such an original character. He is far form your typical book boyfriend and quite honestly I thought he was a real treasure. Funny, sweet, generous, unfailingly kind and with a giant heart, this man simply stole my heart. Daisy was also a very likable character. I found her easy to connect to and sympathize with. Her struggle was real then and unfortunately, in so many ways it is still real today. The story itself was beautifully written and fast paced due to the novella length of this read. The book features a wonderful blend of emotion, humor, drama and heart that quickly captivates you and will leave you smiling and just feeling good. This is my sincere review that I am posting of my own accord.
