About this ebook

| This contribution focuses on some of the recently reclassified original drawings by Giuseppe Nicolosi (1901-1981) viewed directly in the Nicolosi archive. The drawings refer to the complicated design project drafted for the reconstruction of the new centre of the city of Cassino in Southern Lazio destroyed during the Second Word War; the project combines Italian rationalism and new experimental constructions. The contribution highlights the designer’s focus on the rules of urban composition based on principles of coherence and unity during the ideation of central city areas more representative of ‘civitas’ itself.
