About the author
"Bandi", born in 1950, is a writer certified by the DPRK government and member of the Central Committee of the Joseon Writers Alliance. After witnessing the events of the "arduous march" from the late 1980's through the 1990's, Bandi became a sharp critic of the North Korean regime which he blames for mass starvation and human suffering. In his work, Bandi records the suffering of common North Koreans who have no one they can commiserate with.
