About this ebook
Mamsa-piyusha-lata or Pala-piyusha-lata a monumental work, of MM. Madana Manohara Upadhyaya of Mithila in 17th century, largely dwells upon the major controversy among the then scholars whether Gods/ Goddesses and ancestors should be offered flesh or not. This dispute has been going on since ancient times. The Vedic sects consider the use of flesh to be justified, while the Vaishnava sects influenced by Buddhists consider it to be wrong. Here, Madana Upadhyaya, a scholar of Tantra and Mimamsa Shastra, has put forth both the views and he concludes that he is neither a supporter of flesh-offer nor an opponent of the custom. Therefore, both the views have equally been illustrated in this treatise.
