About this ebook

When Secretary of State, Pete Hegseth announced that the Trump Administration was considering renaming military vessels that have been christened after legendary LGBT, female, and minority officers, Harvey Milk ‘s Navy vessel was one of those mentioned.

Harvey Milk was assassinated almost 50 years ago, and while his status as a gay icon has increased over the years, there are many who do not really know who he was, what he stood for, and how unique he was in his time.

We are fortunate that our RAB author Boze Hadleigh interviewed Milk twice just weeks before he was assassinated and shared those interviews with us. In these pages you will find the first interview which concentrates on Milk’s passionate belief in the power of community and politics. Two weeks later Hadleigh joined him for dinner where they talked about growing up gay in America in the 50s and gay imagery in popular culture.

These side-by-side interviews give us a powerful insight into not only who Harvey Milk was as a politician but also as a gay man in his time. Milk’s passion and pride in these interviews shows us just how much we lost and makes us wonder what could have been!
