Tales From the Pushin Off brings to life the era of the 1940’s and early 1950’s--of what rural life was like for families and children of that time. The stories portray the lives of a close-knit, extended family and their children, during the times of the Depression Era, WWII, food rationing, and life in a small town atop a mountain, located in the Cumberland Mountains in Southern Middle Tennessee. Most of the stories describe the deeds, misdeeds, and escapades of the author and two of his first cousins, both of whom grew up with him.

About the author

Carl Finney was born in Sewanee, Tennessee, a small community located on a historic mountain top within the Cumberland Mountains in rural Middle Tennessee. Following high school and college, he served a career with the United States Army and is a veteran of the Vietnam War. Following retirement from the US Army, he followed a subsequent career in the field of Rotary Winged Aircraft Technology in the Middle East and Europe spanning over 20 years. Following retirement from this overseas career, he retired to Morristown, Tennessee. where he and his wife, and lifetime companion, Bobbie now reside.
