Long Shadows is a book with a lot going on. There is mystery, drama, suspense, and builds in action and intrigue slowly. However, and takes us on an interesting journey. Long Shadows is book two in the Lycanthropy Files series and can be read as a standalone. However, I recommend reading book one, The Wolf's Shadow, because it provides a lot of background for this story. The characters have been through so much, and now Lonna finds herself being hunted and runs to the only safe place she knows, to her Pack. This is when things become interesting, especially given the events that occurred in the first book. The plot may be slow to build, but you will not want to put the book down once it does. Long Shadows is book 2 in a Lycanthrope series. Says it can be read as a stand alone, but for as long as the book is, I feel there's quite a bit missing. There's so much going on, twists, turns, betrayal, love, trust, plots & sub plots, with a lot of characters. I liked the plot & a subplot or 2, but was confused a bit on a couple of subplots. I'm going to go read the 1st book now & take care of that, lol, I hope. However, there seemed to be some scientific stuff, I got a bit bored with, & why were the girls upset with each other? I'm hoping that's in book 1 also, or maybe book 3. Stay tuned, I'll let you know...*SMALL SPOILER WARNING*... *It CAN be a stand alone, due to the happy ending, but I DON'T recommend it*. Been there, done that, lol. However, this book is so much better after reading the 1st book 1st!!! I'm a lot more satisfied & no confusion this time. Enjoyed it much better! The Lycanthropy Files is an urban fantasy series. Lonna never wanted to be a werewolf but that doesn't stop everyone from wanting her blood. Wanting a normal life and realizing it will not happen is just what Lonna is faced with when her boss deceives her. On the run from the hunters, Lonna realizes she's been caught and now has to fight.
