About this ebook

Eric Asher has always dreamed of singing opera, rather than seducing wealthy women out of their money. When he lands a coveted place in the chorus of the Grand Opera House, it feels like his life is finally falling into place. But the Grand Opera House is no ordinary theatre. Its reclusive owner, Marian, never shows her face—only speaking through mirrors in a haunting voice.

Ada Byron was never meant for the world of high society. She understands numbers and machines, not corsets and courtship. Fleeing an arranged marriage, she finds refuge at the Grand Opera House, helping to build the stage illusions that dazzle the audience.

In the shadows of the Grand Opera House, Ada and Eric can finally truly be themselves. At last they have a purpose, a place where they can be more than what society has dictated for them.

At first glance, they have nothing in common. But as their paths keep crossing within the opera house, something begins to shift. For the first time, Eric finds his practiced charm falling flat—and instead of rejection, he feels relief. With Ada, he doesn’t have to perform or monitor every word and gesture for effect. And Ada, so used to being dismissed for her oddities, is startled to find someone genuinely interested in the person behind the quirks.

But someone else is watching. Marian has grown obsessed with Eric since she started giving him singing lessons through the mirrors. And then she discovers his feelings for Ada...

As Marian’s obsession turns into violence, the opera house becomes a deadly stage. With the curtain rising on the final act, Ada and Eric must outwit the woman determined to keep them trapped in her opera house as characters in a story of her own creation. And she never willingly releases her players...

If you love atmospheric settings, slow-burn romance, and complex characters who don't fit society’s norms, and of course if you love the Phantom of the Opera and all its gothic gorgeousness, this book is for you.

Welcome to the world of Music & Mirrors and its lavish gothic editions. But beware, once you enter, you may not be allowed to leave...

Love, love, love it! A new retelling, well a re-invention, of the Phantom of the Opera. The story is engaging right from the start and kept me hooked right through. But what I loved the most were the characters. For me the book is about being different, but also about ideas we are having about people and how wrong they often are, or at least not the whole truth. People are often so much more beautiful inside then we initially give them credit for, that's the message I'm taking away from this story (while discovering it in real life as well) There's a tender love story, too, of course, and even the secondary characters are interesting and have depth. So, buy it, read it, enjoy it, is what I'm saying. :)

What if a scientist designed an opera house? What if one person was your greatest happiness? What if a well-bred woman loved mechanics and math and peace and quiet? What if you were a poor man and your sister were dying and your father was a drunk? What if your dreams were coming true? What if your fears were real? What would you do? Here is a tale that will have you biting your nails and holding your breath.
