About this ebook

Something has to give... Could it be her heart?

Connie has always distrusted nice guys. In her experience, they’re just waiting to reveal some horrible secret. And then she meets big, adorable, Henry Samuel Beckett—editor extraordinaire, lover of bow ties, sweet and so cheery she struggles to believe he’s real.

Until Henry Samuel Beckett—or Beck, as he’s known to most—tells her the secret underneath his sunny surface: He’s been single all his life. But in a moment of panic, he’s told everyone at his publishing house that he’s married. And when Connie, an aspiring writer herself, can’t help defending him, she ends up being the fake wife he doesn’t actually have.

When they head off on a writing retreat, surrounded by people convinced this must be a ruse, both of them can't help but agree. Until they share their first kiss, their first touch, their first time in only one bed. Side by side, every night, as the simmering tension builds...Connie starts to wonder if this might be real after all.

Sweet romance, if a little over the top Beck is a big teddy bear, a little on the neuro-divergent end of the spectrum, a genuinely nice guy who has trouble expressing himself to his peers. Connie, on the other hand, appears to be an extrovert but it masks a lifetime of insecurities that have kept her from making a real connection. Connie is a little hard to read sometimes, mostly because she has no experience with a truly nice man so she doesn't quite know what to do with him. I loved watching her learn to trust her own judgment as she gets to know him and is able to be her authentic self with him. This was my first book by this author, and while I genuinely enjoyed the story I did feel that a lot of the descriptions were a bit too earnest, but if that's what you're looking for you'll feel right at home. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

I love it when he’s sunshine and she’s grumpy! Our cinnamon roll hero and our jaded heroine can’t deny the heat between them, and they do drive each other wild. Be prepared for things to be extremely hot and steamy, because, wow, it was crazy! These two, seemingly opposite, but they have an instinct, an insight, about each other. It takes her a little longer to latch onto it, and some wires get crossed, but when it works out, it is just so darn sweet and beautiful <3

This book had me laughing nearly from the moment it opened, and it really never let up. I mean, the email exchanges between our leading couple had me howling with laughter. However, that’s not to say that Beck and Connie/ Hazel's journey was smooth sailing. My heart broke that neither of these characters seemed to have been treated with common courtesy before. And so, seeing it from one another, it looked instantly suspicious.
