Arbeitssituationsanalysen standen am Beginn der Gründung der Arbeits- und Industriesoziologie im Nachkriegsdeutschland. Methodische Anwendung und Weiterentwicklung erwies sich in der Folgezeit als aufwändig und schwierig, so dass wiederholte Versuche jeweils nur eine begrenzte Resonanz fanden. Der Tatbestand zunehmender Entgrenzung und Flexibilisierung nicht nur der Erwerbsarbeit im derzeitigen "Epochenbruch" macht es jedoch dringend erforderlich, diesen Ansatz subjektrelativer Methodik der Arbeitsforschung zu reaktivieren und auf einen praktikablen Stand zu bringen. Die AutorInnen dieses Bandes schaffen hierfür eine erste Grundlage.
