I was so scared for the characters reading what they experienced working together to save Aidan's animals and Aidan and Jade's lives as a wildfire raged through the area. The author was so descriptive in her writing that I felt like I was there dealing with it alongside them. I loved Aidan's loyal dog Chip who was determined to help even when he became injured. I felt Aidan's pain over the loss of his son and how he felt like he was losing him again and his memories to that fire. Jade was tough and stubborn not wanting to show weakness in her quest to prove herself as a firefighter and make her father proud. This was a clean emotional suspenseful romance.

We are back in Shelter Creek and the Heroes of Shelter Creek series. This time, the story belongs to firefighter Jade Carson, and rancher Aidan Bell. Jade is a dedicated firefighter. When the wildfires in the county threaten the neighboring ranches and their families, she’s sent out to warn them to leave. One of these is Aidan. Aidan is a man who’s had tremendous losses and is determined to not only save his ranch and animals but also those of his neighbor. But when he refuses to leave, Jade stays to help. The danger of the fires escalate and their lives and those of the animals is threatened. The descriptions of the fires will keep you on the edge of your seats as we spend time with Jade and Aidan. Amidst the possibility of not seeing another day, they develop a bond . Will they see another day ? If they do , will they acknowledge their feelings or will their past and expectations keep the apart? This is a clean heartbreaking as well as heartwarming romance about losses, danger and new possibilities. A great addition to this series. I was entrusted a copy of this book . The opinions expresses are solely my own.

I received a complimentary copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it. If I could give this more than 5 stars, I definitely would. This was a nail-biting story! The action of these two protagonists and animals trying to survive a California wildfire was one that kept me glued to my e-reader long into the night (until the eyes finally gave out!) The scenes were so well written that I felt like I was right there with them in the midst of the danger. Jade Carson is a firefighter out of Shelter Creek. Her boss sends her on a mission to alert families along a stretch of country road that a wildfire is approaching and to leave immediately. Jade knows that she was given the assignment because she is a female. Being the professional that she is, she immediately complies but knows that she will have a word or two after the fire is contained with her boss. She comes across a grumpy rancher, Aiden Bell. He refuses to leave. He has to save his animals and an elderly neighbor's animals. Jade comes back to Aiden's ranch after notifying the last family. He isn't around. She leaves a note to tell him to get out. Jade is on her way back to her boss when a tree coming crashing down preventing her escape off of the ridge. She goes back to Aiden's ranch. Thus beginning the fight for survival for these two and a few animals. This story is told in a dual POV format. Reading Aiden's POV really got to me and helped me to better understand his reluctance in leaving. (I can't say why here.) These two clash many times but really work well together to try and save his ranch. While this story is part of a series, you really don't have to read the prior stories to read and understand this one. I am so glad that Aiden got a story in this series though. He was a small secondary character in the first story and I really liked him. This is a sweet, clean romance that I highly recommend to anyone. I so look forward to more Heroes of Shelter Creek!
