Karl der Große kämpfte als bedeutendster Herrscher des Mittelalters für Recht und Ordnung in seinem Reich. Mit dem Kampf gegen die Langobarden sorgte er auch in der Provinz Rätien wieder für Ruhe. Conrad Ferdinand Meyer (* 11. Oktober 1825 in Zürich; † 28. November 1898 in Kilchberg bei Zürich) war ein Schweizer Dichter des Realismus, der (insbesondere historische) Novellen, Romane und Lyrik geschaffen hat. Er gehört mit Gottfried Keller und Jeremias Gotthelf zu den bedeutendsten deutschsprachigen Schweizer Dichtern des 19. Jahrhunderts. (Wikipedia)
