This diary by Anne Frank is one of the most valuable literatures in the world. You will not come across a single human being who has not shed tears while reading it. Anne Frank was a victim of the torture camps for the evacuation of the Jews during the Second World War. She succeeded in running away from the Nazis along with her mother, sister and other four people. They remained in hiding nearly for two years. But somehow, the Nazis found them and sent them to the torture camps. Only her father was not captivated. After Anne's death, her diary came into the possession of her father. He published it in the year 1947, immediately it was welcomed on all levels because of its uniqueness and Anne's peculiar writing style. She has revealed the hideousness of the torture camps in her diary, at the same time; she has very freely and innocently described the feelings in her mind during her growing years. She has written that she wants to be alive even after her death, and she was very much thankful to god for the wonderful gift of life and the ability to write a diary capturing her feelings perfectly well. During last 40 years, millions of copies of this book have been sold worldwide. ‘‘द डायरी ऑफ अॅन प्रँâक’’ हे जागतिक साहित्य-विश्वातील एक अमोल लेणे आहे. एका तेरा वर्षीय मुलीची ही अनुभव-गाथा वाचताना; डोळ्यांत टिपूसही येणार नाही, अशी व्यक्ती शोधून सापडणार नाही. दुसNया महायुद्धाच्या काळात ज्यू लोकांचा जो छळ झाला, त्यातील अघोरी अनुभव वाट्याला आलेली ही बालिका. आईवडील, बहिण आणि अन्य चार व्यक्ती नात्झी भस्मासुरापासून दूर पळत, एका इमारतीत लपून-छपून जीवन वंâठू लागतात. पण दोन वर्षांतच त्यांना हुडवूâन काढण्यात येते आणि जर्मन छळछावणीत सर्वांची रवानगी होते. कसेबसे वडील मात्र वाचतात. अॅनच्या मृत्युनंतर तिची डायरी वडिलांच्या हाती आली आणि १९४७ साली ती जेव्हा प्रसिद्ध झाली; तेव्हा तिचे वाङ्मयीन आगळेपण वाचकांच्या तात्काळ ध्यानात आले. महायुद्धात मानवी जीवन किती कवडीमोल झाले होते, वांशिक वर्चस्वाच्या खोट्या कल्पनेपायी इतरांचा अमानुष छळ करण्यासाठी मनुष्य कसा प्रवृत्त होतो, याचे प्रत्ययकारी चित्रण तर या डायरीत आहेच; पण एका उमलत्या कळीच्या भावभावनांना तिने आपल्या लेखनात यथेच्छ, कोणताही आडपडदा न ठेवता, वाट मोकळी करून दिली आहे. ‘‘मला मृत्युनंतरही जगायचे आहे, आणि म्हणून देवाने दिलेल्या या देणगीबद्दल मी अत्यंत ऋणी आहे’’ असे तिने लिहिले. ही देवाची देणगी; म्हणजे तिच्यात वसणाNया सर्व भावभावनांना शब्दांत पकडण्याचे सामथ्र्य.
