There are clear signs of a revival in the critical fortunes of D. H. Lawrence, but it is not one likely to clear away all the misconceptions that gathered round his name in the past, or avoid developing new ones in the future. About the author
An Emeritus Professor of English Literature at the University of Kent (UK), David Ellis wrote the third volume of the Cambridge biography of D. H. Lawrence (Dying Game), which was published in 1998, and has since written two more books on him, as well as numerous introductions to Lawrence texts. Other writers about whom he has published books include Shakespeare, Wordsworth, Byron and Stendhal.
