I wouldn't recommend this book even if you are a DA fan (as I am). It could easily be called "DA: the Exposition Book". The writing is sub-par, the characters are one-dimensional, and the whole experience felt like reading an amateurish clone of Game of Thrones.

If you played Origins you'll see that the story is similar and but that's a good thing because you can see the parallels between the story plots in the book and the game. And use those points to decide whether or not you want your characters to end up in the same way the characters in the book have. And to me, that's great writing.

It's neither good or bad. It's just meh. An okay to read if you're bored and love dragon age game.
