A devotional for each day of the year with fun and interesting facts about people, places, things that happened in history, is a super cool way to keep the kids interested in family devotions or maybe their own personal devotions. For instance, on today's date in 1888, Jim Thorpe was born. I am not sure I had ever heard of him, but I am also not really involved in sports. Apparently, he was a very successful athlete, son of Chief Black Hawk, even won some Olympic medals. Due to a unforeseen issue, Jim was stripped of his medals. The prizes were compared with our eternal prize which can never be taken away from us, while earthly awards can be lost, stolen, or simply fade away in importance after time. The verse used was 1 Corinthians 9:25. I found this devotional to be interesting, and so did my kids (ages 10+13), often picking it up to just read a couple of days. It could be read as one devotional each day, or multiple at one time when finding something of interest. This is a simple devotional with pretty much just one Scripture per day, no additional Bible reading assigned, not necessarily an in depth devotional, just a basic, five minute fun read to offer encouragement and insight. It has cool clip art and various bits of history that happened on that particular day aside from the main thought for the day. Easy enough to be read by 8-12 year olds, interesting enough for some adults. I received my own personal copy of this devotional from B&H blogger group and Lifeway. I was not asked to give a positive review. All opinions are my own.
