About this ebook

Sustainability is often presented as a clear-cut solution to the world’s environmental and social challenges. Yet, in practice, it is riddled with contradictions—the hybrid paradox—where technological advancements, economic growth, and environmental conservation frequently come into conflict. This book explores the complex interplay between sustainability models, corporate responsibility, and socio-political dynamics, questioning whether current frameworks genuinely address global challenges or merely perpetuate systemic inequalities and greenwashing.

Drawing on historical evolution, policy dilemmas, and real-world case studies, Hybrid Paradox of Sustainability critically examines the tensions between economic incentives and ecological responsibility, the dominance of Western sustainability models, and the often-overlooked wisdom of Indigenous and localized approaches. It delves into topics such as greenwashing, renewable energy waste management, smart city carbon footprints, and the socio-economic impacts of sustainability transitions.

By proposing a hybrid model that integrates multiple perspectives, this book moves beyond the paradox, advocating for adaptive, inclusive, and ethically grounded sustainability strategies. Whether you are a researcher, policymaker, business leader, or sustainability advocate, this book offers insightful analysis and actionable solutions for navigating the complexities of sustainability in a rapidly changing world.
