Wellness and Cannabis Research Foundation has asked for non-profit status as an education and research foundation to the purpose of publishing semi-annual books of indexed references to clinical studies and other studies comparing use of alcohol to marijuana on a number of social outcomes. The foundation intends to distribute these reference books to both state and Federal law makers.
Proceeds from the sale of this book will be contributed to the non-profit.
In early 2014 Slain was asked to serve on the investor’s committee of CrowdFund Intermediary Regulatory Advocates (CFIRA), a group of professionals gathering together to work with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to set standards and establish best practices. Slain has a LinkedIn sub-discussion group presently in development called LinkedIn’s PIPR discussion group.
In 1966 Douglas Slain joined The Wall Street Journal as a cub reporter right out of college. He later was accepted into the University of Chicago’s Social Thought Committee (on which both Saul Bellow and Hannah Arendt then served) where he received a M.A. in 19th C. German intellectual history. As a part of this Ph.D. program Slain was asked to spend a semester at University College London, where he received a Diploma and at The Goethe Institute in Germany for two semesters, where he received two certificates. Slain received his BA (Phi Beta Kappa) from DePauw University.
Slain received his J.D. from Stanford Law School in 1970.
