About the author
E. T. A. Hoffmann (1776-1822) war nicht nur ein deutscher Schriftsteller der Romantik, sondern auch Musiker und Zeichner. Mit dem Schreiben begann er während seiner Zeit als Kapellmeister in Bamberg. Zu seinen wichtigsten Werken gehören u.a. "Fantasiestücke in Callots Manier" sowie seine "Nachtstücke", deren bekannteste Erzählung "Der Sandmann" ist.
