"Proletarische Theorie" entsteht, anders als sogenannte "objektive Erkenntnis", als subjektiver Vorgang, in dem der Körper zentrales Erkenntnismedium und die Verbindung von - gemeinsam - gemachten Erfahrungen wesentliches Merkmal von Begriffs- und Theoriebildung ist. Diese lebenspraktische Rationalität ist aber immer auch Ausdruck gesellschaftlicher Macht- und Herrschaftsstrukturen. Die Autorin geht der Frage nach, ob und inwieweit Sozialstrukturen sich in Erkenntnis-Sozialstrukturen niederschlagen. In Frage gestellt wird der universalistische Anspruch "objektiver", wissenschaftlicher Erkenntnis.
