Every Good Thing

I miss us. Those three words reveal what Lena’s feared for a while—her marriage to Ben is in trouble. Every good thing they’ve built together, their sweet family, and Lena’s booming business, Saddletree Farm and Bakery Cafe, have taken priority over what’s gotten her here—Ben’s love and support. He’s always been there for her. But now that his hearing impairment is worsening and his career as a police officer is in jeopardy, he can’t connect with the woman he loves, not that she has the time. Lena knows something has to change. After consulting her best friends, Dot and Cherry, the strong, creative women responsible for helping her transform her family’s farm into the beautiful retreat it is, she makes an executive decision—she accepts a movie deal. Diamond Studios takes over Saddletree to produce their next horror flick, and she gets a three-month hiatus to spend time with Ben and fix what’s broken. With her best friends stepping in to help (sometimes too much), Lena is determined to save her marriage. 

Only the harder she tries, the more she pushes him away. The “vacation” from her business feels more like an intrusion as the studio takes over. The security and comfort her stoic, all-business husband usually provides crumbles under his own turmoil—he is losing his identity, and Lena may not find a place in his new one. When their shared world continues to fracture, their choices whittle down to one—sometimes, the bravest thing to do is let go.
