Taufen ist ein grundlegender Vollzug christlicher Kirche. Gegenwärtig verändert sich die Taufpraxis mehrfach. Den sich dadurch ergebenden Herausforderungen gingen in einem Fachgespräch Theologen unterschiedlicher Disziplinen im akademischen Lehramt, in kirchenleitender Verantwortung und im praktischen Dienst nach. Zuerst wird anhand neuen empirischen Materials die Vielfalt der heutigen Taufpraxis beschrieben. Es folgt eine Analyse der Stellung von Taufe in Systematischer und Praktischer Theologie. Dem schließen sich kirchenhistorische, ökumenische und kirchenrechtliche Rekonstruktionen an. Sie münden in Beiträgen zur Taufpraxis aus liturgischer, poimenischer und kybernetischer Perspektive. Dabei ergeben sich neue Einsichten zu Theorie und Praxis der Taufe. Mit Beiträgen von Franziska Beetschen, Walter Fleischmann-Bisten, Lutz Friedrichs, Christian Grethlein, Hermelink, Matthias Kreplin, Martin Laube, Fritz Lienhard, Andreas Müller, Traugott Roser, Helmut Schwier und Martin Treiber [Practice of Baptism. An Interdisciplinary Project] Baptism is fundamental for Christian church. Today the practice of baptizing is changing in many ways. Some theologicans working at universities, in leading positions in the Protestant Church or parishes discussed the challenges of this change. First the pluriformity of baptism today is studied. An analysis of the (lacking) importance of baptism in Systematic and Practical Theology as well as historical, ecumenical, and legal reflections are following. They are running into articles about baptizing in the perspectives of liturgy, pastoral care, and leadership. They are leading to new insights into theory and practice of baptism.
