Der Band setzt sich mit der strukturalen Psychoanalyse Lacans und ihrem Bezug zur Sozioanalyse Bourdieus auseinander. Die Verortung des Symbolischen als eine dritte Instanz zwischen Subjekt und Objekt bestimmt dabei das Motiv der Arbeit. Lacan, wie auch Bourdieu betrachten die Realität über symbolische Prämissen vermittelt. Lacan spricht vom "Imaginären"", in dem wir uns bewegen, Bourdieu von der "Illusio". Die Kontextualisierung der Arbeiten Lacans und Bourdieus eröffnet Möglichkeiten die sozialen Problemhorizonte und Konsequenzen, die auf den sozial orientierten psychischen Dispositionen des Habitus Begriffs basieren, zu erkennen und als elementar für die Positionierung des Subjekts oder des Akteurs im Feld herauszustellen.
