Questo Diario clandestino, come scriveva Guareschi, “è talmente clandestino che non è neppure un diario”. Ma sono pagine che erano state scritte nel Lager e per il Lager, e lette da Giovannino passando da baracca a baracca per regalare un sorriso o un motivo di riflessione ai compagni di prigionia. Pagine che possono dare un’idea di quei momenti, di quei pensieri, di quelle sofferenze. Guareschi in quei giorni tragici non cedette, né materialmente né, soprattutto, spiritualmente. Diceva: “Non muoio neanche se mi ammazzano”. Non morì. E oggi è più vivo che mai.

About the author
Giovannino Guareschi nacque a Fontanelle di Roccabianca (Parma) il 1° maggio 1908 e morì a Cervia nel 1968. Giornalista, scrittore, umorista, fondò, insieme a Giovanni Mosca e Giaci Mondaini, il celebre settimanale umoristico "Candido". Il suo nome è legato alla notissima serie di opere incentrate sui personaggi di don Camillo e Peppone. Tutti i suoi libri sono disponibili in BUR.
