The power of friendship is strong with this one. It does an excellent job of portraying the bond between the two main characters, Abby and Gretchen. The author also nails the 80s pop culture and the nostalgic atmosphere that comes with it. Some might wonder if it’s scary, but for someone like me who’s used to horror, I found it pretty tame. Anyway, everything here had the makings of a great book, but I didn’t enjoy it as much as I’d hoped.

Ah. The sweet, lingering scent of the 80's. Something between Jean Naté and Lagerfeld. Izod polos and Sun-In hair lightener. Distant echoes of a cheer long forgotten. '...Suceed! Sucess! Reach for the top!' Perfect read to kickoff the autumn blooms and diluted afternoon sunshine. Here's to spiked apple cider and reading in a cozy corner.

This is the first Grady Hendrix book I've read, but I can assure you that it certainly won't be the last! I loved every minute of this book and found myself fully immersed in Abby and Gretchen's world. I laughed, cried, laughed and then cried some more. Hendrix crafts a thrilling story about drugs, demonic possession, bodybuilding Christians, and the unbreakable bond of true friendship.
