"Salambo", französischer Originaltitel "Salammbô", ist ein 1862 erschienener historischer Roman von Gustave Flaubert. Er schildert angelehnt an historische Begebenheiten den Verlauf des Söldneraufstands, der nach der Niederlage Karthagos im Ersten Punischen Krieg 241 bis etwa 238 v. Chr. in Nordafrika ausbrach. Die Titelfigur Salammbô, im Roman die Tochter des karthagischen Feldherrn Hamilkar Barkas, ist indes fiktiv. Flauberts Roman, dessen exotisch-drastische Schilderungen das zeitgenössische Publikum sehr beeindruckten, wurde mehrmals dramatisiert, u. a. in einer unvollendeten Oper von Mussorgski.
