About the author
Hans Joas, Prof. Dr., geb. 1948, Soziologe und Sozialphilosoph, hat nach Promotion und Habilitation in Berlin als Professor unter anderem an Universitäten in Erlangen, Berlin, Erfurt, Freiburg und New York gelehrt. 2012 war er erster Gastprofessor der "Joseph-Ratzinger-Papst-Benedikt-XVI.-Stiftung" an der Universität Regensburg. Seit 2014 ist er Inhaber der Ernst-Troeltsch-Honorarprofessur an der Berliner Humboldt-Universität. Seit 2000 lehrt er jedes Jahr auch an der University of Chicago, deren Committee on Social Thought er angehört. Er hat zahlreiche Auszeichnungen erhalten, so 2015 den Max-Planck-Forschungspreis und zuletzt (2017) den Prix Paul Ricoeur.
