Dieses Lehrbuch gibt eine gründliche Einführung in die Entscheidungstheorie. Es ermöglicht, praktische Entscheidungsprobleme zu erkennen, sie formal zu beschreiben und mit Hilfe des entscheidungstheoretischen Instrumentariums zu lösen. Zunächst wird der allgemeine Aufbau von Entscheidungsmodellen und deren Bedeutung für die Lösung praktischer Entscheidungsprobleme diskutiert. Dabei werden drei Konzeptionen erläutert: das Grundmodell der Entscheidungstheorie, graphische und mathematische Entscheidungsmodelle. Es wird gezeigt, wie Entscheidungsprobleme bei Sicherheit, Unsicherheit und in Risikosituationen gelöst werden können. Insbesondere wird die Formulierung von Zielfunktionen und die Bildung eines Wahrscheinlichkeitsurteils über die Umweltzustände analysiert.
