अयोध्या का मतलब है; जिसे शत्रु जीत न सके। युद्ध का अर्थ हम सभी जानते हैं। योध्य का मतलब; जिससे युद्ध किया जा सके। मनुष्य उसी से युद्ध करता है; जिससे जीतने की संभावना रहती है। यानी अयोध्या के मायने हैं; जिसे जीता न जा सके। पर अयोध्या के इस मायने को बदल ये तीन गुंबद राष्ट्र की स्मृति में दर्ज हैं। ये गुंबद हमारे अवचेतन में शासक बनाम शासित का मनोभाव बनाते हैं। सौ वर्षों से देश की राजनीति इन्हीं गुंबदों के इर्द-गिर्द घूम रही है। आजाद भारत में अयोध्या को लेकर बेइंतहा बहसें हुईं। सालों-साल नैरेटिव चला। पर किसी ने उसे बूझने की कोशिश नहीं की। ये सबकुछ इन्हीं गुंबदों के इर्द-गिर्द घटता रहा। अब भी घट रहा है। अब हालाँकि गुंबद नहीं हैं; पर धुरी जस-की-तस है। इस धुरी की तीव्रता; गहराई और सच को पकड़ने का कोई बौद्धिक अनुष्ठान नहीं हुआ; जिसमें इतिहास के साथ-साथ वर्तमान और भविष्य को जोड़ने का माद्दा हो; ताकि इतिहास के तराजू पर आप सच-झूठ का निष्कर्ष निकाल सकें। उन तथ्यों से दो-दो हाथ करने के प्रामाणिक; ऐतिहासिक और वैधानिक आधार के भागी बनें।
