Janet Leigh was an American actress who was born on July 6, 1927, in Merced, California. She started her career in the entertainment industry in the late 1940s and appeared in various films and television shows throughout the 1950s. Some of her most well-known acting credits include "The Manchurian Candidate", "Touch of Evil", and "Psycho". Her performance in "Psycho" earned her critical acclaim and a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress. She continued to act until the 1990s, with her final film appearance being in 2004's "Bad Girls from Valley High". Aside from her acting career, Leigh was also an activist and philanthropist. In 1966, she founded the Jennifer Jones-Simon Foundation, which supports causes related to mental health and disability. She was also involved in various charities, including the March of Dimes and the United Services Organization. Leigh passed away on October 3, 2004, at the age of 77. She leaves behind a legacy as one of Hollywood's most recognizable actresses and as a humanitarian who was committed to making a positive impact in the world.
