The Promise

I never make a promise I can’t keep. And the one thing I can never keep is Kenzie Porter. I’ve always wanted her and it’s never been an option. She’s my best friend’s widow. Forbidden. And temptation personified.

So when she comes to London out of the blue and pleads for a shot at a chef job at my hotel, I’m torn. Having her in my workplace will be torture, but I promised Sam I’d look out for her. As an ex-soldier, I should be able to handle a little self-discipline. But am I strong enough, knowing she’s somewhere in my city but not in my bed…? Close, but off limits…?

When she asks me for a favour, to help her over her sexual dry spell, I’m done for. No matter how right it feels, the only things I know for certain are that I’m last person who deserves her trust and she can’t ever be mine.
